Description
Salary Range: $25 - $33 (Final offer based on experience, education, skills, and market factors)
Shift: Weekend Days 3x12s; shift premiums available!
General Description of PositionThe Machinist sets up and operates a wide variety of industrial machines such as CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, Vertical Machining Centers, and surface grinders to machine ceramic parts. Machinists run 1-4 machines simultaneously and understand all aspects of setup and precision measuring. They may also train other operators and machinists.
Requirements- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3-6 years CNC experience or on-the-job training to include completion of 2-year Machine Technology certificate.
- Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions in English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure including decimal fractions.
- Read mechanical drawings/blueprints including GD and T.
- Vision and depth perception suitable for use of inspection microscopes.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to either stand or walk for extended periods.
- Ability to mentor, train or lead other operators and machinists.
- Must pass criminal background check and drug screen.
- Eligible to work in an ITAR environment.
- Set up and observe CNC machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; adjust machine controls or indicators as required.
- May measure, mark, and/or scribe dimensions and reference points on parts.
- Select and secure holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines to maintain .0005 tolerances.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or input commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine controls.
- Document all instances and circumstances of scrapped parts or machine issues, utilizing proper forms and pass down reports.
- Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications and complete independent First Article Inspection reports.
- Trained on CMM and/or optical comparator; routinely work with precision measuring tools to ensure GDT quality checks.
- Report machine failures, non-conformance, spills, accidents, EHS concerns and maintenance requests immediately.
- Participate in P5S initiatives; keep machinery clean and machine area clear of debris.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on machines daily and record.
- Adhere to all safety programs including PPE and safe operating practices; model and train others on departmental safety procedures.
- Cross trained on multiple machine types; ability to calculate complex dimensions to meet tolerances and apply codes; troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose and complete minor machine repairs.
- Will work on prototype parts and new specifications with limited instructions or established procedures; ability to write, test, edit and troubleshoot programs as assigned.
- Communicates and interacts effectively with production management, engineers, and quality team to make departmental improvements; makes innovative suggestions for improvements.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications- Computer software including MS Office, Adobe, e‑mail, SAP.
