Facilities Maintenance Technician - Millwright
Essential Duties
- Develop, improve, and perform planned, preventative, and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, fans, piping and plumbing systems as well as a variety of facility support equipment.
- Inspect hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and high purity water and chemical systems. Replace filters, test and repair pipes, valves, motors and actuators in hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
- Rebuild vacuum and fluid pumps, gear boxes, boilers, chillers, fans, air compressors, and other facilities equipment.
- Systematically troubleshoot equipment problems and make necessary repairs using various diagnostic tools/techniques requiring significant interpretation.
- Install, modify, set up, and tests complex facility equipment and machinery as requested by Production, Safety, Environmental, Engineering, or other Facility groups.
- Read and understand technical manuals, drawings and schematics.
- Use hand tools, power tools and measurement devices. Use vibration analyzers and gas detectors.
- Operate pipe joining, welding, and other metal fabrication tools.
- Understand all worker safety regulations and work safely in all environments. Understand and practice proper cleanroom procedures.
- Complete all paperwork (P.O.s, P.M.s, work orders etc.) accurately and thoroughly.
- Follow all employment and site services policies.
- Will perform other projects and tasks, as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Skill set should include; lubrication, hydraulics, print reading, bearing assembly and mounting, precision assembly and fitting, rigging, shop fabrication, troubleshooting and machine shop.
- Experience with pipe joining processes normally found in manufacturing facilities.
- Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in reading and comprehending drawings and schematics and using diagnostics tools.
- Experience using equipment for the repair and installation of metallic and nonmetallic piping systems, including high purity chemical/gas lines.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to and develop SOP's.
- Able to wear a respirator, clean room suit, class B protective equipment, and all other required PPE.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
- Must be able to read, comprehend, and execute complex training, instructions and safety procedures.
- Must be able to complete required paperwork and respond to email using standard business systems. Must be able to use specialized systems once trained.
- Successful results of pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Reliable and consistent attendance.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- Welding experience preferred. The ability to IR weld and/or orbital weld is highly desirable.
- Basic electrical skills and the use a precision measuring instruments a plus.
Working Conditions
- Facilities Technicians work both indoors and outdoors in a wide variety of facility, manufacturing, and shop areas. Technicians are exposed to excessive noise levels and work in proximity to a vast array of gases and chemicals, including acids and caustics.
- They may be exposed to wet/slippery conditions as well as lubricants and coolants.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined/congested spaces is required. Ascends, descends ladders, stairs, scaffolds, ramps, poles, towers, etc.
- Will use PPE gear up to level B and comply with company safety policies and procedures as required.
- Must be able to work in a clean room environment wearing clean room suite, hood, booties, safety glasses and gloves.
- May require the use of hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel objects, tools and controls. Kneeling, bending and crouching positions, as well as the lifting of parts and use of hand tools in such positions, may be required.
- Occasionally lifts up to 25 lbs.
- Night and weekend work will be required based on an "on-call" rotation.
