Cleanroom Production Operator (CWI)
The Cleanroom Production Operator runs multiple pieces of automated manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced silicon wafer production environment. This role works in a controlled cleanroom setting and requires strict adherence to detailed procedures, documentation standards, and quality specifications. The operator supports multiple process areas, monitors equipment and processes, and ensures that all products meet customer and internal requirements while maintaining a safe and organized workspace.
Responsibilities- Operate multiple pieces of manual and automated manufacturing equipment used in silicon wafer production within a cleanroom environment.
- Follow complex, detailed procedures and complete all required documentation accurately and on time to meet daily production targets without defects.
- Review work orders, load materials onto the appropriate machinery, and input the correct process recipes according to customer specifications.
- Use a computer keyboard and manual controls to operate manufacturing tools, input data, and track and confirm each process step.
- Continuously monitor, analyze, and verify process data to ensure all steps meet quality specifications before moving material to the next operation.
- Exercise judgment and critical thinking to approve or reject ingots and wafers that do not meet specifications.
- Develop and apply skills to correctly operate and adjust manual and automated equipment, including basic troubleshooting and minor upkeep as needed.
- Complete computerized forms and labels and create concise, detailed reports on shift activities, tool performance, and notable events.
- Operate robotic equipment to lift, unload, raise, lower, and transport materials, products, and other equipment safely.
- Move, lift, carry, and transport material boxes filled with polysilicon wafers, frequently handling approximately 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Use carts on wheels to push or pull materials and equipment weighing from approximately 20 pounds up to about 200 pounds.
- Stand and sit for extended periods during a 12-hour shift while performing production and monitoring tasks.
- Work safely around hazardous and volatile chemicals, following all documented training, procedures, and safety processes.
- Perform cleaning tasks on equipment and in the work area to maintain cleanroom and 5S standards.
- Follow all documented training, procedures, and processes to maintain high quality and cleanroom compliance.
- Identify, report, and take action to prevent or stop variations, errors, or lapses in quality.
- Ensure quality issues are properly documented, corrected, and not repeated by following established escalation and corrective action processes.
- Identify and report suggestions for process, quality, or efficiency improvements to supervisors or appropriate leaders.
- Communicate effectively with management and co-workers to coordinate work, share information, and support team goals.
- Participate in cross-training and work toward certification in multiple process areas within the department to support flexible operations.
- Demonstrated ability to follow complex, detailed procedures with high attention to detail.
- Strong multitasking and time management skills in a fast-paced production environment.
- Basic math skills to support measurements, calculations, and data verification.
- Basic computer skills, including accurate use of a computer, keyboard, and monitor.
- Ability to use software such as Microsoft Excel and Outlook or similar applications.
- Ability to work well with others and function effectively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with management and co-workers and complete documentation.
- Ability to work safely around hazardous and volatile chemicals by following established procedures.
- Capability to stand and sit for long periods during a 12-hour shift.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry approximately 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull carts weighing from approximately 20 pounds up to about 200 pounds.
- Comfort operating manual and automated manufacturing equipment and robotic handling tools.
- High level of attention to quality, with the ability to monitor, analyze, and verify process data.
- Willingness to wear full cleanroom personal protective equipment for the duration of the shift.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a cleanroom, semiconductor, wafer processing, production, or warehouse environment is highly beneficial.
- Experience with quality-focused environments and familiarity with 5S or similar workplace organization standards is an advantage.
- Proficiency and accuracy in using computers and common software tools such as Microsoft Excel and Outlook or equivalent applications.
