Soldering Technician

Paradigm is seeking a skilled Soldering Technician to assemble, modify, inspect, and rework electronic products to IPC and company quality standards. This position performs hand soldering on through-hole and surface-mount components, completes printed circuit board modifications, and supports mechanical and production assembly activities. The ideal candidate has hands-on soldering or electronics production experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow drawings consistently, work instructions, and quality requirements.

Type: 6 month contract-to-hire

Shift: Day Shift (5:00AM - 3:30pm, Mon - Thurs)

Pay: $24–$30 per hour

As a Soldering Technician, you will:

  • Assemble electronic products according to drawings, work instructions, and documentation requirements
  • Prep, install, remove, and touch up through-hole and surface-mount components using hand-soldering techniques
  • Perform printed circuit board modifications, including wire and jumper-wire installation and trace cutting
  • Perform mechanical assembly using work orders, production drawings, sample assemblies, and verbal instructions
  • Read, understand, and navigate Fusion and Factory Logix documentation
  • Prep and stuff printed circuit boards and assist with selective solder operations
  • Operate in-line and batch washers according to work instructions
  • Operate board heaters according to work instructions
  • Depanel electronic assemblies according to work instructions
  • Perform epoxy, RTV, and potting work according to documentation
  • Inspect your own work and the work of others according to the IPC-A-610 class specified in the documentation
  • Track job status and production time using a Manufacturing Execution System
  • Obtain and maintain IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certifications
  • Obtain and maintain IPC-7711 certification if required by the team
  • Follow safety, electrostatic discharge, ITAR, and Quality Management System requirements
  • Maintain 6S standards and identify opportunities to improve production processes
  • Participate in Lean manufacturing activities and adapt to process changes
  • Take instructions, ask questions, and work collaboratively with team members

Requirements:

  • Previous soldering experience
  • Previous production or manufacturing experience
  • Experience performing through-hole or surface-mount soldering
  • Ability to read and follow drawings, work instructions, and production documentation
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One to two years of soldering experience
  • Two years of experience in a production or electronics manufacturing environment
  • Current IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or IPC-7711 certification
  • Experience using Fusion or Factory Logix
  • Experience performing PCB rework or modifications
  • Experience with both through-hole and surface-mount components
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, depending on the assigned job tasks
  • Visual acuity sufficient to perform detailed electronics assembly and inspection work, including work under a microscope
  • Ability to pass a vision examination with a minimum visual acuity of 20/25 in at least one eye, with or without corrective lenses
  • Ability to pass a color-vision test and accurately distinguish color-coded components and materials
