Onboard Systems Inc seeks a CNC Machinist to produce precision components for helicopter cargo hooks and external load systems in our Manufacturing & Production team. You will set up and operate CNC mills/lathes, interpret engineering drawings and GD&T, and machine aerospace-grade materials to tight tolerances. Responsibilities include in-process inspection, tooling optimization, and basic machine maintenance. Working closely with engineering and quality, you'll help improve safety-critical products and support continuous improvement in a collaborative, quality-focused culture.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and adjust CNC mills/lathes to produce aerospace components to print
- Interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and GD&T to machine tight-tolerance parts
- Inspect parts using precision measuring tools and document results per quality procedures
- Optimize tooling, feeds, and speeds to improve quality, throughput, and tool life
- Collaborate with engineering and quality to resolve machining and manufacturability issues
- Perform basic machine maintenance, keep work area organized, and follow safety standards
- Support continuous improvement, root-cause analysis, and process documentation in manufacturing
Required Skills
- CNC machine setup and operation
- G-code programming and editing
- Reading engineering drawings and GD&TUsing precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM)5-axis and multi-axis machining
- Tool selection and offsets adjustment
- Machine troubleshooting and basic maintenance
- Working with aerospace alloys and tight tolerances
- Statistical process control (SPC) and documentation
- ERP/MRP and production documentation
