Social Media and Marketing Manager – HSSW

The Humane Society for Southwest Washington (HSSW), founded in 1897, is the largest animal welfare agency in Southwest Washington. We provide free pet food, emergency shelter, financial assistance, and medical care, helping more than 10,000 pets each year. We are seeking a full‑time Social Media and Marketing Manager to join our team. The role reports to the Associate Vice President of Communications and Marketing and will create and deliver innovative content for our social media platforms and website, as well as develop marketing and advertising plans.

Job Responsibilities
  • Social Media: Oversee HSSW social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, and other platforms; manage day‑to‑day content creation (photography, video, graphics); monitor notifications and engage the audience; establish engagement benchmarks and develop growth plans; monitor trends and make implementation recommendations; analyze metrics and report on performance; manage paid advertising content.
  • Brand & Internal Communications: Provide copywriting support and content development for internal communications (weekly digest email, monthly internal newsletter); serve as lead copywriter and content planner for external communications, including event communications, programs and services, and the monthly WAG newsletter; support production of print and marketing materials and event communications.
  • Website & Software: Oversee the HSSW website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and consistent with brand voice; maintain all web content with images, forms, and tools to ensure a positive user experience; provide support for third‑party software such as Constant Contact, Classy, Shelter Buddy, and other tools as needed.
  • Digital Presence & Advertising: Develop and implement a strategic advertising plan with the Director of Communications and Marketing; supervise advertising in print and digital outlets, including paid social media and local media; oversee digital presence on business platforms (Google Business, Yelp, Apple Business, etc.); support SEO and marketing efforts to expand HSSW’s digital visibility.
  • Other Responsibilities: Collaborate with internal program stakeholders to support marketing and communication initiatives; provide additional support for marketing and communications projects as needed.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, or a related field preferred; or a minimum of 8 years of experience with digital advertising, marketing, and branding (non‑profit experience preferred), which may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in developing and executing successful marketing campaigns and communications.
  • Passion for brand and community impact.
  • Strong creative, analytical, organizational, and personal skills with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent writing, editing, content creation, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience developing and implementing successful social marketing strategies.
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and other Adobe suite products is preferred.
  • Ability to build and maintain authentic relationships with colleagues and partners.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record;
    Motor Vehicle Record check required.
Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $25.24 to $30.72 per hour, with starting pay dependent upon experience.

Paid Time Off (PTO)
