Peace Health is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join a vibrant Inpatient Palliative Care team in Vancouver, Washington.

Candidates with a palliative care certification are highly desired.

Job Summary

Within scope of practice and in alignment with hospital staff bylaws and PHMG physician supervision expectations, responsible for advanced level of nursing evaluation, clinical assessment, prescribing and monitoring medications and follow‑up care for patients. Responsible for patient and family teaching.

Essential Functions
  • Effectively identifies, evaluates, and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues while administering quality patient care.
  • Works independently and interdependently with members of the medical staff for consultation, collaboration, or referral.
  • Gives directions to nursing and other staff.
  • Prescribes medications and treatments, performs ongoing medication management, orders lab and diagnostic tests when appropriate and interprets results.
  • Educates patients and/or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed treatments or medications.
  • Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records per established standards.
  • Analyzes new knowledge from conferences, workshops, professional literature or hands‑on training and applies it to practice.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education
  • Must fulfill educational requirements to obtain ARNP license in state of practice.
Credentials
  • Required:

    Nurse Practitioner – Washington, or ability to obtain during onboarding.
  • Required:

    Drug Enforcement Administration certification.
  • Required:

    Basic Life Support upon hire.
  • Preferred:
    Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of age‑specific growth and development principles and life stages to meet each patient’s needs. (Required)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. (Required)
  • Interpersonal skills to work productively with patients, families, nursing staff, and other departments. (Required)
  • Personal responsibility for ongoing educational growth and collaboration to provide solutions for patient quality. (Required)

  • Experience dealing with terminally ill patients.
  • Valid driver’s license with an insured vehicle in good operating condition.
  • Five years advanced nursing practice preferred.
  • Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (ACHPN) preferred.
Working Conditions Environmental Conditions
  • Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
Mental / Visual
  • Vision and hearing within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
