Peace Health Southwest is now accepting applications for our New Graduate Nurse Residency in ICU Stepdown at Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington. This full time, 0.9 FTE Night shift position is an exceptional opportunity for new graduate nurses to join a program designed to foster technical expertise, compassionate care and professional growth.

Our 12-month transition-to-practice program offers interactive, evidence-based curriculum that builds clinical skills, leadership and confidence in the professional nurse role. The program reflects the Mission, Vision and Values of Peace Health ensuring excellence in patient outcomes and community care.

What you bring:

  • Recent RN graduate (within 12 month) or a RN licensed less than 12 months with less than 6 months of Acute Care experience
  • Active Washington RN license by date of hire
  • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by date of hire.
  • Able to participate in all program activities throughout the 12-month residency period
  • Ability to work a minimum of 36 hours/week, variable shifts and shift lengths and rotate per union standards

  • Start dates are determined by several factors including: NCLEX (one retest attempt allowed), Licensing, relocation and department needs.

The salary range for this job opening at Peace Health is $56.92 – $86.09. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary

Provides professional nursing direct patient care in compliance with professional practice and unit standards. Promotes a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach towards patients, families and all members of the care delivery team.

Essential Functions

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care needs.
  • Documents patient care in the healthcare record according to established standards.
  • Directs and delegates care to other team members in accordance with their education, credentials, and demonstrated competence.
  • Ensures own professional effectiveness through education and professional development.
  • Participates in the development of and maintains established hospital policies, procedures and objectives, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection prevention program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Management of ventriculostomy, EVD, and ICP. Nursing care of patients with non-traumatic ICH, non-traumatic SAH, seizures. Nursing care of patients post tPA, thrombectomy, aneurysm coiling, carotid artery stenting and intra-cranial stenting. Management of blood pressure abnormalities with parenteral vasoactive agents. Completion of complex neurological assessments/scales.
