Job Title

Regional School Nurse or School District LPN

General Responsibilities

The Regional School Nurse reports directly to the Health Services Director and implements, manages, and delivers school health services to school districts and/or agencies. The School District LPN works under the direction of the Regional School Nurse and provides nursing care to students. Salary ranges from $33.75 per hour for LPNs to $43.70 per hour for RNs. Offers are made at the entry level of the range.

Substitutes are on-call, as needed.

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions for Regional School Nurse include assessing critical health needs, collaborating with administrators, coordinating mandated health screenings, supervising medication administration, providing health counseling, and serving as a resource for health education. Essential Functions for School District LPN include assisting in nursing assessments, providing nursing care, implementing health care plans, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with the Regional School Nurse. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum/Preferred

Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications for Regional School Nurse include a valid Washington State RN license, experience in pediatrics, current CPR/1st aid certification, and experience in the health care of school age children. Minimum Qualifications for School District LPN include a valid Washington State LPN license and current CPR/1st aid certification. Preferred Qualifications for Regional School Nurse include a bachelor's degree in Nursing, valid Washington ESA certificate as a school nurse, and experience working with community service agencies.

Preferred Qualifications for School District LPN include experience as an LPN in a school setting and experience in pediatrics.

Working Conditions/Employment Requirements

Working Conditions include exposure to diseases carried by students, travel to school buildings and districts, ability to physically move and/or lift equipment up to 35 lb, and regular attendance during assigned work schedule. Employment Requirements include successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through Washington State Patrol and FBI, and proof of immunization/disease including MMR/Td/Hepatitis B/Varicella.
