• Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products ordered in the correct portion size.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customers receive what they want and need.
• Use all bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipe using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness, review “sell by” dates and take appropriate action.
• Properly use kitchen equipment such as stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering or shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand the store layout and locate products when requested by customer.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions, note any discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs kept.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, notifying store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and informing the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
