HoSt Bioenergy Systems Seeks Area Sales Manager – North America

HoSt Bioenergy, a global leader in transforming organic waste into renewable natural gas, electricity, heat, fertilizer, and food-grade CO₂, is hiring an Area Sales Manager to drive growth across its biogas, RNG, organics processing, and carbon capture business throughout North America.

This is a complex, consultative sales role focused on identifying opportunities and building relationships before formal purchasing decisions occur, typically on projects ranging from $5M–$20M with 12–24 month sales cycles. The Area Sales Manager will build credibility with developers, engineers, financial partners, and project owners, positioning HoSt’s capabilities early in the project lifecycle while collaborating with sales engineers and technical experts on solution design, project economics, and financing strategy.

The role is based in Vancouver, Washington (hybrid), with approximately 30% travel across North America.

Preferred experience includes: a track record selling complex engineered solutions, comfort engaging engineers, executives, and financial stakeholders, patience with long sales cycles, and a background in industrial process equipment, wastewater treatment, renewable energy, or similar fields.

Responsibilities

This isn’t a role where qualified opportunities simply appear in your inbox. You’re helping create them. Some projects will come through HoSt’s existing network and reputation, but many won’t.

Your job is to identify opportunities before they become formal RFQs, build credibility with the people shaping those projects, and position HoSt long before a purchasing decision is made.
That means spending your time with developers, engineering firms, financial partners, agricultural operators, industrial companies, consultants, and project owners across North America.
Every project is different. Every stakeholder has different priorities.

Sometimes you’re explaining technical capabilities. Sometimes you’re discussing project economics and return on investment. Sometimes you’re helping an engineering firm understand how HoSt’s technology integrates into the overall design. Other times you’re sitting with a developer discussing financing strategy, project risk, or helping them think through challenges that extend well beyond your own scope of work.

This is not a transactional sale. It is a consultative, multi-year commercial partnership.

Projects often range from $5M to $20M. Sales cycles typically last 12 to 24 months.

You’ll collaborate closely with Sales Engineers, technical experts, leadership in both North America and the Netherlands, and the Chief Commercial Officer as we continue building the commercial engine for North America.

No two days will look exactly alike.

Job Qualifications

You’re not intimidated by complexity. In fact, it’s probably one of the reasons you’ve been successful throughout your career.

You’ve built your reputation selling complex engineered solutions—not products that can be explained in a short demo. You’re comfortable sitting across the table from engineers, executives, financial stakeholders, and project teams, asking thoughtful questions, uncovering the business case, and helping multiple parties move toward the same decision.

You know that projects of this size aren’t won in a single meeting. They require patience, persistence, and the ability to build trust over months—and sometimes years. Long sales cycles don’t frustrate you because you understand that meaningful commercial partnerships take time to develop.

You’re a hunter at your core. You enjoy creating opportunities that didn’t exist yesterday. You don’t wait for perfectly qualified leads to appear in your inbox. You’re energized by opening new doors, developing relationships early, and positioning yourself long before a project becomes a formal opportunity.

You’re equally comfortable discussing technical solutions and commercial outcomes. Whether you’re helping a customer understand an engineered system, building an ROI case for a financial partner, or presenting to executive leadership, you know how to adapt your message without losing credibility. You simplify complexity rather than adding to it.
