Position Title: Fire Sprinkler Service Technician

Vanport Mechanical & Fire Sprinklers, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Fire Sprinkler Service Technician to join our Fire Protection Service team. This essential life safety role focuses on the inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire sprinkler systems and related components in commercial, industrial, and multi-family properties throughout the region. We’re looking for a technician who takes pride in doing it right—start to finish—while upholding the standards of NFPA 13, NFPA 25, and other critical life safety codes.

Responsibilities- Perform routine fire sprinkler inspections and testing in accordance with NFPA 25
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on sprinkler systems and underground fire lines
- Service and inspect fire extinguishers per code requirements
- Clearly identify and document system deficiencies, impairments, and follow-up actions
- Use Build Ops field software to complete tickets, log time, take photos/videos, and submit documentation
- Coordinate with office staff and service teams to schedule and execute repairs
- Communicate with customers and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) professionally
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas and service vehicle
- Follow all company safety policies and maintain up-to-date tool and equipment inventory
- NICET Level II – Inspection & Testing of Water-Based Systems
- Washington State Level ITT License
- Washington State Backflow Tester Certification
- Oregon Certificate of Fitness – Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems & Underground
- Fire Extinguisher Inspection & Service Certification
- Strong working knowledge of NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, and 25
- Ability to read and interpret system drawings and inspection reports
- Comfortable using mobile field technology (Build Ops or similar)
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Competitive hourly pay: $38–$42+ depending on experience and certifications

Some travel required within the Portland Metro and SW Washington region.
Work LocationField-based role covering Vancouver, WA and surrounding Portland Metro Area.
Vanport provides vehicle and travel support for service techs.
