general summary
operates screed machine to spread and smooth freshly poured concrete or asphalt surfaces.
this is a union-represented position.
essential job accountabilities- must be able to operate asphalt, screed, or concrete paver.
- ability to operate other paving related equipment as well such as rollers, screed, etc.
- must be able to safely perform a number of construction paving duties.
- performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor.
- moves levers, depresses pedals, turns hand wheels, and pushes throttle to control and guide machine.
- high school diploma, ged or equivalent years of experience
- proper certification required
- appropriate training and experience required
workers should be able to:
- read engineering drawing
- practice good safety habits
- work in dusty or dirty surroundings
- follow instructions and meet set standards
- judge distances and slopes accurately
- make decisions based on verifiable standards.
physically, workers must be able to:
- stoop, bend, and crouch
- use hands, arms, and legs fully
- see well (either naturally or with correction)
- lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

base hourly wage range :hourly: $38.47 $ 47.15
