WSDOT is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Mechanic 3 to join our team in Vancouver, WA! As a journey-level member of the Southwest Region, you’ll play an important role in keeping WSDOT facilities, buildings, and equipment operating safely and efficiently across the region. You’ll perform a variety of repair and preventive maintenance activities, using your mechanical expertise to help ensure our transportation facilities are reliable, functional, and ready to support the communities we serve.

This is a great opportunity to put your skills to work across a diverse range of facilities and systems, including rest areas and radio sites. In addition to your primary mechanical responsibilities, you’ll have the opportunity to perform work across multiple trades and tackle a variety of maintenance challenges throughout the Southwest Region. Your work will directly support WSDOT’s mission and commitment to a strong Culture of Safety while helping keep our facilities and transportation system running smoothly.

Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Maintenance Mechanic will:

• Independently make repairs and perform preventive maintenance to building structures to include roofing repairs, plumbing repairs, carpentry, window replacement, overhead doors, etc.
• Make repairs and modifications to potable and non-potable water systems, water/sewage systems and hot water systems.
• Repair and replace plumbing, piping, fixtures and related mechanical devices.
• Perform drainage system maintenance, oil/water separator, drainage swales and ponds.
• Maintenance of fire alarm systems, security systems, and power gate systems region wide.

To be considered for this opportunity, the following competencies are required:

• Journey-Level Trade Knowledge and Application:
  Demonstrated journey-level knowledge and application of a recognized construction or mechanical trade, such as plumbing, carpentry, building maintenance, or a closely related trade, gained through a recognized apprenticeship program, journey-level trade status, or progressively responsible experience as a supervised helper or trainee.
• Building and Facility Maintenance:
  Demonstrated ability to perform skilled maintenance, repair, and modification of building facilities, mechanical equipment, plumbing systems, structures, and related components using appropriate tools, equipment, materials, and work practices.
• Independent Repair and Problem Solving:
  Ability to independently assess building and utility system issues, determine appropriate repair or modification needs, develop an approach, and safely…
