Position Summary

Perform duties as outlined by the Terminal Manager related to the receipt and shipment of petroleum products via barge, vessel, and truck. Conduct maintenance and accounting responsibilities in accordance with established company and governmental regulations. Assist in operations, maintenance, safety, and environmental matters.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate terminal, pipeline, and pump facilities as directed.
  • As trained and/or directed, oversee all activities on an assigned shift.
  • Respond to terminal emergencies and, in the absence of the Terminal Supervisor, coordinate emergency response measures.
  • Document, report, and assist in investigating all mixes, incidents, injuries, spills, and violations of company operating practices in accordance with company policy and state, federal, and local regulations.
  • Assist in training and provide direction to other operators as directed.
  • Perform tank gauging, product sampling, testing, and quality monitoring using appropriate equipment.
  • Accurately type and verify meter tickets and prepare bills of lading.
  • Communicate equipment abnormalities, failures, operating inconsistencies, or errors to management in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate, legible, and timely shift logs and documentation, including railcar, truck, and marine receipts and deliveries.
  • Maintain an inquisitive attitude to ensure procedures are followed, risks are minimized, and skills are developed.
  • Monitor truck loading in accordance with company and industry safety procedures, including weekly vehicle safety inspections when applicable.
  • Maintain full knowledge of all facility procedures, lines, block valves, remote locations, equipment, and systems.
  • Comply with all operating policies, standards, permits, licenses, and regulatory requirements.
  • Understand and operate terminal equipment, machinery, and tools as designated.
  • Monitor incoming and outgoing custody transfers.
  • Start and stop pumps using proper valve alignments to ensure safe product transfer and quality integrity.
  • Perform general facility upkeep and maintenance, including painting, sweeping, washing, and housekeeping.
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on valves, pumps, piping, packing, and related facility components.
  • Conduct daily safety and security inspections and document findings.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to personal safety and the safety of company assets, employees, and the public.
  • Participate in special projects and other assignments as requested by management.
  • Complete all required monthly, quarterly, and annual training.
  • Work independently using sound judgment while also functioning effectively in a team environment.
  • Represent oneself and the company in a professional manner at all times.
Competencies, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to use tank gauging, truck loading, TMS7, Top Tech, Nustock, and other applicable programs and equipment.
  • Ability to accurately and consistently perform routine mathematical calculations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read, comprehend, and convey written instructions.
