Truss Crane Operator

Position Summary

Pay: $34.46-$36.72 hourly

The Truss Crane Operator position is essential to fulfilling the needs of our customers by ensuring that orders are delivered on time and in great condition. The operator drives trusses to jobsites, uses the crane to safely drop material, and reports directly to the Plant Manager while interacting daily with external customers such as framers, homeowners, and builders.

• Must be 21 years old or older
• Class A CDL required
• Air‑brake endorsement required
• Current NCCCO certification
• Current DOT Medical Card
• Acceptable driving record
• Ability to speak, write, and read English required
• Knowledge of vehicle safety audits and reports of any malfunctioning equipment as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy
• Ability to manage time and routes for a streamlined delivery experience
• Familiarity with GPS devices or map applications
• Driving experience within 50‑mile radius of primary location preferred

• Safely and efficiently load and unload building materials from commercial motor vehicle
• Legally, safely, and efficiently travel to destinations through public and private roads
• Learn and use route planning and optimization
• Follow delivery procedures by taking photos of delivered shipment after completing each delivery
• Maintain yard, warehouse, and vehicle cleanliness during course of work
• Keep truck supplied, organized, and clean
• Check load for accuracy
• Proactively manage job site conditions for next delivery and communicate with other crew members
• Perform daily pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of all equipment
• Perform required safety audit of vehicle (daily safety audits, weekly brake inspections, crane inspections) and promptly report any malfunctioning equipment as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy
• Promptly report all accidents/incidents
• Write legibly on all materials
• Annually update driver’s qualification file as required by Federal and state regulations and company policy
• Provide required paperwork and scanning for dispatch
• Ensure that all material transported on the truck has a delivery packet which includes the truss layout and truss engineering and delivery ticket
• Provide feedback related to customers, jobsites, issues, etc.
• Read and follow instructions on deliveries
• Contact customers before next delivery
• Establish good relationships with sales team and seek to be their "eyes and ears" in the field
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with customers, contractors, and vendors
• Assist other team members with work when appropriate
• Perform other related duties as assigned

• Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs
• Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to sit for an extended period of time
• Ability to stoop, bend, and walk
