Job Summary
This position is responsible for operating an asphalt distributor truck safely and efficiently. Under the direction of the dispatcher, the driver will be responsible for delivering and applying product to customer specifications on appropriate projects located in Washington and Out-of-State. As the position is weather and construction season dependent, there may be a period of layoff.
Responsibilities
Operate a heavy‑duty diesel truck equipped with an asphalt tank and spray bar to deliver asphalt and emulsion to customers in Washington and Out-of-State.Conduct all pre‑ and post‑trip safety inspections and complete required paperwork.Work with the company dispatcher to receive daily project assignments.Fill the truck tank using proper loading procedures with asphalt oil, emulsion, or other product.Transport the tank load to the assigned project following the safest and most efficient route.Operate truck instruments to distribute tank load on road or other appropriate surfaces as directed by the customer order.Where appropriate, apply material with a hand wand while walking over the area where material is applied.Maintain the truck, tanker, and other equipment clean, properly stored, and in good working order.Notify the dispatcher or mechanic of needed roadside or overnight repairs to keep the truck in compliance with company policy and/or state or federal regulation.Ensure all measurements of road or job have been taken and are verified before departing the project.Keep a daily driver’s log and monitor running hours, communicating with dispatch as required.Complete all required paperwork, including accounting, timecards, safety or equipment reports.Work safely and take action to prevent any unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
- Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
- Valid Class A state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Pass a pre‑employment drug screening and background check.
- Job requires steady to intermittent physical activity including standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing and walking on uneven ground.
- At least two years of experience as a Class A driver with a manual transmission.
