PARR is the total source for homebuilding supplies, solutions, and services.
Pay: $21.02–$23.27 per hour.
Duties and Responsibilities- Builds safe and efficient loads of building materials by correctly reading load sheets and invoices.
- Loads trucks in order of delivery schedule and in accordance with local and state laws and regulations.
- Ensures loads are complete and all items on paperwork are loaded on truck.
- Loads and off-loads company trucks with building materials both by hand and with a forklift.
- Checks loads for banding order and quality, reports any quality issues to management and/or helps to fix the issue.
- Puts stock away.
- Clears racks when needed so build tables can continue to produce without delay.
- Stages floor packs so they are ready when logistics comes to get them, loads floor packs onto logistics trucks.
- Receives delivered inventory by properly inspecting paperwork for accuracy and by depositing inventory in designated locations.
- Opens and closes yard as needed.
- Keeps forklift clean.
- Ensures that appropriate paperwork is completed as per company policy.
- Checks all paperwork for accuracy.
- Maintains yard cleanliness during course of day.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Knows product substitutions, shares that knowledge, and always applies the knowledge to building the load.
- Cross trains as other positions in the yard to fill in as needed or able.
- Proactively seeks to learn products and applications for end users.
- Completes required online training as necessary.
- Understands weight limits and length limits for company’s fleet of trucks as to safely and lawfully load trucks.
- Wears proper high visibility and safety gear.
- Safely operates equipment and always honks horn and looks before backing or rounding blind corners.
- Performs daily safety audit of forklift and promptly reports any malfunctioning equipment.
- Participates in safety committee when necessary.
- Consistently follows company safety protocols.
- Encourages coworkers to follow best practices with safety.
- Proactively brings safety issues to the attention of the Manager.
- Reports on issues when needed.
- When errors occur, identifies order input errors and passes that information along to management and/or dispatch.
- Assists Customer Service employees maintaining yard cleanliness.
- Partners with all coworkers: sales, yard, management and uses those relationships to solve problems.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- OSHA Certified Forklift License.
- Ability to speak, write, and read English required.
- Knowledge of dimension lumber and panel products and other building materials.
- Ability to read and interpret "pick tickets" and invoices.
- Ability to concentrate and attend to detail amidst a busy work environment.
- Class C driver's license or alternative transportation preferred.
- Shoes that are puncture-resistant, slip-resistant, made of leather or composite material, and have ankle support required.
- Ability to work cordially, professionally, diplomatically and with a high level of customer service in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrate sound judgment in dealing with sensitive business matters with internal and external customers of all types.
- Must maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all information related to company finances and records.
- Ability and willingness to identify processes, tools and/or procedures that may be improved upon to improve the workplace and outcomes for our customers.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of management and employees.
- Strong focus, planning, organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage changing priorities, handle multiple projects, and do what is necessary to meet deadlines, while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
