A growing, family-owned manufacturing organization in Dayton is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team. This is a newly created role designed to support the Accounting Manager by taking on core accounting responsibilities to support higher-level initiatives. What You'll Do
You'll support accounting operations for two related entities, taking ownership of key functions including:

• Manage core general ledger functions, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting month-end close activities.
• Prepare and assist with financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting across both entities.
• Support cost accounting processes, including analysis, reporting, and collaboration with operations to ensure accurate product costing.
• Oversee fixed assets and CIP, including tracking, capitalization, depreciation, and project-related accounting.
• Provide backup support for Accounts Payable and take on additional responsibilities to free up the Accounting Manager for higher-level strategic work.

What You Need to Bring
Must-Haves

• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance preferred (strong experience considered in lieu of degree)
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUPs)
• General ledger experience
• Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred - nearly essential for success

Nice-to-Haves

• Cost accounting experience
• ERP system experience
