Job Summary
Lead Mechanical Component Design Engineer within GE Aerospace’s Sustaining Engineering team, responsible for design, analysis, and evaluation of mechanical components for power generation products used in military and commercial aviation.
Role and Responsibilities- Execute design, analysis or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
- Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting assigned projects.
- Document technical data generated by assigned projects consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
- Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.
- Present or review in technical and program reviews.
- Provide engineering and technical support in a production environment.
- Perform Engineering Change (EC), Root Cause Corrective Analysis (RCCA), Cost Analysis, and related tasks.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities in product design, testing, and cost.
- Onsite work is required Monday–Friday at the Vandalia, OH facility.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in direct mechanical engineering design.
- Prior experience working within Aerospace/Aviation industry.
- Substantial experience driving design changes based on production findings.
- Experience with drawing updates.
- Prior experience working in a manufacturing or production support environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to influence others and lead small teams.
- Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact.
- Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
- Effective problem identification and solution skills.
- Proven analytical and organizational ability.
- Strong project ownership, execution, and proactive mentalities.
