General Manager

The General Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of logistics operations within an organization. Plays a critical role in driving efficiency, optimizing supply chain processes, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective movement of goods. Additionally, leads a team of logistics professionals, sets strategic direction, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategic plans for logistics operations to support organizational goals and objectives.

Oversee the end-to-end supply chain process, including procurement, inventory management, warehousing, transportation, and distribution.

Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and drive operational efficiency.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement logistics strategies that align with sales, production, and customer service goals.

Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and logistics service providers to ensure cost-effective and reliable transportation and logistics solutions.

Lead and mentor a team of logistics professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.

Monitor industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices to optimize logistics processes and ensure compliance with regulations.

Ensure compliance with local, regional, and international trade regulations and customs requirements.

Manage logistics budgets, forecasting, and financial performance, identifying areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

Stay informed about market conditions, customer demands, and competitive landscape to drive strategic decision-making.

Direct supervision of the Warehouse Supervisors.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required

Skills and Abilities

Proven experience in a leadership role within logistics or supply chain management, preferably in a similar industry or organization.
Strong knowledge of logistics operations, supply chain management, and transportation strategies.
Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop employees.
Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strong business acumen and understanding of financial principles related to logistics and supply chain management.
Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control software.
Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and customs requirements.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic business environment.
Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and implement best practices in logistics operations.
Able to lead salaried/exempt positions in multi-shift operation with > 50 employees.
Minimal travel to additional location at least once per quarter.
Proficiency in using computer systems and software, including MS Office Suite.
Knowledge of safety regulations and practices in a warehouse environment.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management Business Administration, or related field required. Master's degree is preferred.
A minimum of five years of experience in Operations Management required.

Physical Requirements

Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Standing and Walking:
The role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods as to navigate the warehouse floor and moves between different areas of the facility.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
Safety Awareness:
Should be mindful of safety procedures and have a strong awareness of potential hazards in the warehouse environment.
