Production Supervisor

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

The primary functions include supervising and coordinating activities of manufacturing employees by performing the following duties.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the major responsibilities, including the following:

• Responsible for daily contact with assigned teams.
• Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in processing and/or the production of products.
• Responsible for operator accountability of maintaining cycle time and quantity standard.
• Identifies training needs and takes a hands‑on approach to address the need.
• Keeps operators informed and maintains positive communication flow.
• Trains new workers in operation of equipment and processes.
• Trains existing workers to improve efficiency and insure conformance with quality standards and production procedures.
• Ensures cross training of operators as necessary.
• Performs required performance evaluations and disciplinary interviews in a timely manner.
• Ensures that employees adhere to company policies and maintain good work habits.
• Documents personnel issues and consults with Human Resources as necessary.
• Responsible for ensuring that the operator is using and understand the quality requirements for each product.
• Responsible for reviewing product daily from each operation to assure customer standards are met.
• Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
• Addresses NCMRs with teams and the corrective action for future orders.
• Responsible for the safety of the operator. Communicates safe work practices ad enforces safety rules. Proactive in identifying unsafe conditions and interceding on behalf of the operator.
• Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Responsible for keeping Production Planning informed of any delays in production.
• Works overtime as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsible for overall supervision of employees and manufacturing. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees' planning, assigning, and directing work; working in part with management and working in part with Human Resources in employee relations.

Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routing reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
