We are a specialty metals supplier focusing on tool steel, high speed steel, powder metallurgy steel, alloy steel and stainless steel. We have a network of service centers strategically located throughout the United States to service the industrial markets. SBSM supplies the major manufacturing industries. We are looking for team members to help us continue to expand our business.

This position will be responsible for cutting steel to order specifications, performing material handling duties, and shipping and receiving functions.

SB Specialty Metals is seeking a motivated independent Outside Sales Representative to join our team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a results‑driven professional with a passion for industrial sales and a strong interest in the specialty steel industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Grow revenue and expand the customer base within the assigned territory.
• Conduct regular customer visits and pursue new business opportunities (50%+ travel required).
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver exceptional service and technical support.

Qualifications

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Sales, Business, Engineering, or Manufacturing preferred).
• Experience:
  
  5+ years in outside sales within the specialty steel industry (Tool Steel experience strongly preferred).
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 50‑75%.

This position is responsible for quoting & entering orders for our existing customers and supporting our company’s outside sales team. Note this is an exempt position with a guaranteed base pay. Additionally incentive is paid out by performance.

Responsibilities

• Service existing accounts, quoting and entering orders and checking stock at one of our 5 locations through our computer system.
• Work directly with customers to help resolve issues by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by focusing on increasing product knowledge.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years customer service experience, preferably in the industrial sales arena.
• Minimum high school graduate; some college in a business discipline preferred.
• Computer literacy.
• Calm under pressure.
• Data entry accuracy a must.

Job Type: Full‑time

Pay: $38,000.00 – $42,000.00 per year
