The George
E. Booth Co. is a family‑owned and operated industrial automation sales company that is hiring a full‑time Field Service Technician. The position is open to candidates in and surrounding the Dayton, Ohio area. The company is a major distributor of industrial process control instrumentation products and related services to customers in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee, founded in 1963.
- Provide startup, troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and maintenance of industrial process control instrumentation products and analytical devices, as well as gas detection systems and valves.
- Diagnose root causes of equipment problems and develop permanent solutions for customers.
- Demonstrate technical competency with industrial process control systems and be familiar with a variety of applications in Food & Beverage, Chemical, Water/Wastewater, or GMP environments.
- Read and interpret technical documentation and prepare technical summaries in written and oral communication.
- Understand level, pressure, flow, temperature, and analytical applications.
- Transmit technical information in an instructional manner to customers and teammates, including classroom settings where preferred.
- Self‑start and negotiate sales of product lines and additional services in the field.
- Operate hand tools, calibration and testing equipment with hand‑to‑eye coordination.
- Submit timely field service reports, calibration certifications, timesheets, business expenses, and other mandatory documents.
- Maintain basic computer skillset and willingness to learn new technical platforms.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, and lift up to 50 lb, as required.
- Work independently without direct supervision and in a team environment.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
- Willingness to travel 50% of the time with occasional overnight stays and a clean driving record.
- Minimum 3 years of related experience.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience.
While performing job duties, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate. The position may require sitting at a computer workstation for long periods. The employee must talk and hear regularly. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, digging, and climbing. Vision requirements include near vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
