Job Overview

A&P Mechanic I

Pay Rate: $32/hr

Must obtain a Secret Clearance
- Assist with the repair, replacement and maintenance of key aircraft components.
- Support necessary checks for mechanical and functional components, test and replace defective parts.
- Use a variety of tools and equipment to diagnose parts for replacement.
- Ensure repairs and maintenance comply with national and international standards while maintaining safety and cleanliness of the hanger or workshop.
- Demonstrate knowledge in airframe maintenance, power plant mechanics, or A&P components.
- Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps.
- Frequently repeat the same hand, arm, and finger motions many times, requiring finger and hand dexterity.
- Frequently require vision abilities including close, distance, depth perception, and color discrimination.
- Frequently require hearing abilities including discerning different tones and volumes.
- Frequently lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.).
- Frequently exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials.
- Frequently exposed to loud noises.
- Responsible for the safety or security of people or property; inspect, handle, or transport explosives, dangerous or hazardous materials.
- Inspect structures, equipment, or vehicles.
- Perform aviation‑related duties; operate or supervise vehicles, heavy or dangerous equipment or machinery.
Skills and Qualifications
- Pass written, oral, and practical assessments.
- Active, current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification with no prior violations.
- Reliable transportation to and from work locations.
- Own tools in good working order.
- Speak, read, and write in English.
- Pass and maintain Class 3 Physical requirements, including a hearing test.
- Familiarity with technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
- FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience.
- Ability to travel regularly and/or work different shifts, including overtime and weekends.
- Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS).
- Background in Aerospace and Defense Industry, Department of Defense, or US Military.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance if required.
Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. A higher‑level degree may substitute for experience. Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
