Position Summary
The main responsibility of a Dentist practicing General Medicine is to provide dental procedures to patients of Sea Mar Community Health Centers consistent with his/her training and the standards established in the fields of Dentistry and Medicine, as permitted under his/her professional license from the State of Washington Department of Health.
Responsibilities- Practice dentistry ethically and meet standards of the dental profession and the Washington State Dental Act.
- Supervise the clinical activities of support staff according to the Washington Dental Act.
- Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Provide dental care under strict aseptic control to ensure patient, staff and dentist safety.
- Provide consultations for cases requiring an Oral Medicine background and acquire new knowledge and skills.
- Coordinate patient care by seeking consultations or referrals to other health professionals when necessary.
- Utilize staff and patient time efficiently to maximize productivity and satisfaction.
- Use appropriate procedure codes consistent with the services rendered.
- Participate in Quality Improvement activities of the Dental Program and Sea Mar Community Health Centers, including staff training when assigned.
- Help make dental care available to patients of Sea Mar Community Health Center and to the public by participating in community oral‑health promotion activities.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Dental Director.
- Current and valid license from the State of Washington Department of Health and a dentist’s contract with Sea Mar Community Health Center.
- Provide dental services under the direction of the Dental Director and supervision of the clinic manager.
- Meet productivity standards established by the organization.
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD), Medical Doctor (MD), or equivalent degree.
- Professional license to practice in Washington State.
- DEA certificate.
- Current BLS CPR within 90 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
- Malpractice insurance.
- Initial TB test at hire and annual retest.
- Pre‑hire and annual employee health screening.
- Annual influenza vaccine; employees with approved medical or religious exemption must wear a mask during the flu season.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical material; respond to inquiries.
- Basic mathematical calculation ability.
- Problem‑solving skills and basic bio‑statistical analysis knowledge.
- Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
- Frequently required to walk and stand.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Must be able to lift or move a child of average weight.
- Vision: close, distant, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Salary: $ USD annual.
