Position: Spanish Teacher, .8 FTE
GENERAL SUMMARY

Provide instructional services as assigned including assessment, instruction and evaluation of students with a consistent focus on educational equity.

Posted salary will be prorated for partial FTE positions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the supervision of the Building Principal, the position performs some or all of the following typical duties:

* Plan, develop and implement courses of instruction designed to achieve district student learning objectives and course expectations.

* Implement district adopted curricula.

* Develop and modify instructional programs to meet individual needs.

* Utilize effective and culturally appropriate techniques for improving student behavior and managing classroom so as to provide a productive learning environment.

* Provide assistance and guidance to individual students.

* Report regularly to parents and be responsive to parental concerns.

* Maintain appropriate student records, including progress reports and/or daily grades and attendance reports.

* Utilize differentiated instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.

* Refer students, when appropriate, for additional support programs.

* Enforce school rules and monitor student behavior in non-classroom settings using equitable and culturally sensitive practices.

* Participate in staff and department meetings.

* Work cooperatively with other staff and administrators.

* Fulfill other job-related responsibilities as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

* Valid Washington State certificate with appropriate endorsement required.

* Prior instructional experience at appropriate grade level preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE,

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

* Teacher must be able to work with students, staff, parents, and other community patrons in an amiable and productive manner.

* Ability to demonstrate good classroom management skills for appropriate grade level.

* Demonstrated mastery of appropriate subject matter.

* Good written and oral communication skills.

* Recent training in instructional theory/methodology.

* Valid first aid and CPR card preferred but not required.

Ability to lift, carry, or move light to moderate objects typically weighing up to 20 pounds (e.g., stacks of textbooks, instructional materials, or basic classroom equipment).

* Manual Dexterity:
Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate computers, interactive whiteboards, AV equipment, and to perform tasks such as writing, typing, and grading.

Sensory Requirements:

* Vision:
Close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus to read written materials, operate screens, and actively monitor student behavior and engagement across the room.

* Hearing & Speech:
Ability to project voice effectively for whole-class instruction, hear and understand speech in a potentially noisy classroom environment, and communicate clearly with stakeholders.
