As the company continues to grow and expand into new areas, there is an opportunity to bring on a Vice President, Finance to step into a true Head of Finance role. This individual will act as a strategic partner to the owner, leading the full finance function while helping to guide business decisions, improve structure, and support long‑term growth.

Your Day To Day
  • Act as a key financial partner to the owner, providing insight and guidance on business strategy, growth initiatives, and major financial decisions
  • Lead and oversee the full finance function across multiple entities, including reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management
  • Provide financial leadership and strategic planning support, including long‑term forecasting and scenario analysis
  • Support the evaluation and execution of new business initiatives, including expansion into development and construction
  • Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations including payroll, AP/AR, intercompany transactions, and union‑related financial compliance
  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, aligning financial plans with business objectives
  • Analyze project‑level profitability, monitor budgets vs. actuals, and partner with operations to improve margins and cost control
  • Develop and monitor financial KPIs and reporting dashboards to support data‑driven decision‑making
  • Lead capital planning initiatives and liaise with lenders regarding financing, credit facilities, and capital structure
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders including auditors, banks, and advisors to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness
  • Work cross‑functionally with estimating, project management, and field teams to ensure financial alignment with operations
  • Lead, mentor, and support a small finance and administration team, while remaining hands‑on in day‑to‑day operations
What You Bring
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, with leadership responsibility in construction, landscaping, or other project‑based industries
  • Experience operating at a Controller, Director, or VP level, with full ownership of the finance function
  • CPA designation is preferred but not required for the right candidate
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, project accounting, WIP reporting, and contract revenue recognition
  • Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution in a lean, fast‑paced environment
  • Experience working in an owner‑led or entrepreneurial business, with the ability to build trust and act as a true partner
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization
  • Systems savvy, with experience working in or improving accounting/reporting systems (Quick Books Online experience is an asset)
  • Comfortable working in an on‑site, collaborative, team‑oriented environment
