Manager, Scientific Visual Communication

We’re hiring a Manager, Scientific Visual Communication to help lead Bio Render’s scientific visual communication function as a senior subject matter expert, people manager, and cross‑functional partner.

This is a role for someone who wants to shape how world‑class scientific visual content gets made  core of our product is our scientific visual content. You’ll help drive the next chapter of Bio Render’s content pillar: accelerating production, raising the quality and usefulness of the Bio Render library, leading ambitious initiatives tied to new product bets and market expansions, and bringing your expert medical illustration judgment into the company’s decision‑making.

We are looking for a leader who operates with domain authority and confidence, who spots and acts on where our library, systems, or standards need to evolve, and who can bring entirely new content styles and approaches to life. Just as importantly, this person can turn fast‑moving founder/product directions into clear focus and strong team execution.

This is a high‑trust leadership role that is well‑suited for someone from a veteran medical illustration, biomedical communications, or agency background who is looking for broader influence on the future of science communications worldwide.

• Accelerate content production
  • Ensure the Bio Render library is effectively maintained as a world‑class scientific visual repository (e.g., monitoring for inaccuracies/errors, content overhauls to eliminate stylistic inconsistencies, resolving content UX issues, and curating for different customer segments).
  • Find opportunities to accelerate and automate manual steps in the production process to be able to service more scientific communities and fields.
• Lead innovative initiatives
  • Partner closely with Product leadership to bring new products to market (e.g., lead the execution of entirely new scientific figure styles within the Bio Render platform; smart template wizards to create exact figures in seconds).
  • Broaden / deepen market reach through strategic content expansions (e.g., icon‑sets and visual narratives for cancer therapeutics R&D based on in‑depth customer research; “ice‑breaker” expansions into bioengineering or agriculture).
• Shape product direction
  • Apply your medical illustration expertise to inform and influence how complex science should be explained and represented across formats, surfaces, and audiences.
  • Support cross‑functional partners (e.g., Marketing/Branding) on visible initiatives where scientific communication quality dictates customer understanding, trust, or adoption.
• People leadership
  • Collaborate with founders and senior leadership to define priorities, turn into clear direction for teams and projects.
  • Coach team members toward stronger judgment, ownership, and capability over time.
  • Scale and grow yourself by delegating, coaching, and training the next generation of great visual science communicators.

• Strong experience in scientific communication, medical/scientific illustration, biomedical visualization, life science education, or a related field (Graduate degree in Medical Illustration, Biomedical Visualization, or a closely related program is a plus).
• Deep judgment in scientific visual communication – not just correctness, but clarity, usefulness, and quality for the audience and context.
• Operationally strong, with a track record of accomplishing challenging initiatives with clear ownership, timelines, and measurable outputs.
