Mechanic Class A 491

The Class "A" Mechanic inspects, diagnoses, repairs, and/or installs parts on delivery vehicles and equipment to ensure proper function and vehicle safety.

Location: 491 - Vaughan

• Inspect, service, and repair delivery and related vehicles to meet safety, operational, and productivity goals.
• Conduct maintenance and repairs; order parts; document and update work orders; communicate with suppliers and operations.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and report quality control issues, determining causes and identifying needed repairs or warranty changes.
• Inform customers of repair status and coordinate necessary actions.
• Maintain parts inventory, purchase required parts, and determine if parts can be rebuilt, repaired, or returned to inventory.
• Coordinate administrative requirements for preventative maintenance.
• Provide emergency road service when vehicles break down on route and assess repair feasibility on site.
• Identify root causes and repair options; arrange for vehicle towing and third‑party vendor coordination.

• Completion of community college coursework of approximately two academic years in a specialized trade or occupational course.
• Trade certification as an Automotive Service Technician (310S), qualifying to inspect, diagnose, repair, and service mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and components for cars, buses, and trucks.
• Minimum 5 years of experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining automotive equipment.
• For Quebec, a competence card from the parity committee or 3 years of experience with a competence‑attesting letter for a vehicle fleet.
• Valid G driver’s license.

• Mechanical and collision repair troubleshooting.
• Vehicle maintenance.
• Service reports and logs maintenance.

Warehouse environment; on the road.
