Afternoon Heavy Equipment Operator

The City of Vaughan seeks two dedicated Heavy Equipment Operators, responsible for performing manual labour and operating trucks, street sweepers, backhoes, and more. With a commitment to safety and efficiency, you will oversee job sites, train staff on equipment usage, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. This role also requires responding to emergencies such as winter storms and flooding.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy machinery, including graders and front-end loaders

• Oversee work crews and maintain safety at job sites

• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on vehicles

• Train staff on safe equipment use and maintenance

• Respond to emergency road conditions as needed

Requirements:

• Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent

• Minimum three years of related road maintenance experience

• Valid Class 'DZ' driver’s license; willingness to obtain Class 'AZ'

• Completion of relevant road construction courses

• Strong communication skills for effective public interaction
