The Staff Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Venice, FL. This position is responsible for assisting with tax preparation and planning for individual and corporate clients, preparing journal entries, maintaining general ledgers, and reconciling accounts. The Staff Accountant will support bookkeeping activities, including Quick Books data entry, account coding, and month-end close processes, and assist with audit and assurance engagements by compiling work papers and supporting documentation.
Daily responsibilities include analyzing financial information, preparing financial reports, communicating with clients to obtain necessary data, and collaborating with senior team members to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and firm standards. The role also involves contributing to process improvements, maintaining accurate records, and meeting filing and reporting deadlines.
- Strong accounting fundamentals, including general ledger management, account reconciliation, and preparation of financial statements.
- Knowledge of tax concepts and practices, including individual and corporate tax preparation, basic tax planning, and familiarity with IRS procedures.
- Proficiency with accounting software and tools, especially Quick Books, and solid skills in Microsoft Excel and other office applications.
- Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry and documentation, and strong organizational skills for managing multiple engagements and deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and internal team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in an on-site professional office environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; progress toward CPA licensure or relevant certification is preferred.
- Prior public accounting, tax, or bookkeeping experience is beneficial, particularly in a CPA firm setting.
