Environmental Specialist II with the Florida Department of Health conducts inspections of regulated facilities in Sarasota County for compliance with environmental health statutes and codes. The role focuses primarily on onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems but includes work across all environmental health programs, with 6–7 hours of daily field work in various weather conditions. The position is based in Venice and reports to an Environmental Supervisor II.
Keyqualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in environmental health, public health, environmental science, or physical/biological science with at least 30 credit hours in physical or natural sciences
- At least two years' experience working in environmental health
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work 6–7 hours daily in the field and lift up to 60 pounds
- Computer skills including Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, and TEAMS
- Preferred:
Certified Environmental Health Professional or Certification in Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems
