Job Summary: Responsible for maintaining the level of product appropriate for the season and level of traffic through the golf shop. Responsible for supporting the Director of Golf with the supervision of the golf merchandise concession and overall daily operation of the golf shop.

Skills/Qualifications
  • High School Diploma - College Degree preferred
  • Experience in retail merchandising
  • Minimum 2 years buying experience in retail - golf shop retail preferred
  • Knowledge of point-of-sale system and tee time software
  • Jonas Club Systems desired but not required
  • Willingness to learn, positive can-do attitude
  • Detail oriented
  • Knowledge of the golf business or golf operations preferred
Essential Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • All duties shall be performed with a commitment to the highest level of member and guest service with a focus on total customer satisfaction.
  • Involvement is wide-ranging and not just limited to golf shop apparel and merchandise.
  • Assists everyone associated with the golf operation in the management of day-to-day golf operations of the facility
  • This position is tasked with providing a high level of member service regarding; counter assistance, (i.e., tee times, check in and billing procedures, event registration, general club, and operational information, answering telephones, and opening/closing procedures, and general cleanliness of the golf shop.
  • Meets with vendors to order merchandise for the golf shop
  • This position will also order, document, and track special orders, promote golf product sales, and implement inventory controls with an emphasis on maximizing sales and profitability through the development and implementation of strategies, analysis, and appropriate reaction to sales trends.
  • Creates a diverse and desirable array of apparel and accessories displays
  • Maintain an attractive and orderly appearance in and around the golf shop
  • Maintains product documentation from purchase to sale, including orders, receiving records, invoices, vendor statements and special-order records to document merchandise history
  • Handles quarterly physical inventory counts
  • Monitors safeguarding of inventory and assets to reduce loss from theft, pilferage, defective/damaged goods, returns and markdowns
  • Manage vendor performance
  • Analyze sales and study trends to determine additional needed sales promotions, markdowns, and clearance sales
  • Attend merchandise shows and conferences within the limits of the budget
  • The Golf Shop Merchandiser does not directly supervise fellow staff but should set a positive example for fellow staff to follow.
  • Schedule:

    The Golf Shop Merchandiser will primarily work a schedule no more than 40 hours per week. However, based on required service levels, major golf events, and seasonal trends, the above-mentioned hours could fluctuate.
  • Other duties as assigned by Head Golf Professional
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand for extended period
  • Ability to lift and/or carry items that are at most 30 pounds
  • Ability to work extended period on computer in varied lighting conditions
  • Repetitive motion using computer keyboard/mouse
  • Sitting minimally
  • Work in golf shop environment for most duties with some outside work for planned events
