About Our JobDo you enjoy hands‑on work and take pride in keeping essential systems running? Join our team and play a vital role in maintaining and repairing the electrical and mechanical equipment that supports Public Utilities facilities. In this role, you’ll troubleshoot issues, perform skilled repairs, and work with instrumentation, telemetry, communication systems, and computers to help keep critical operations running efficiently.
Responsibilities- Install, replace, repair, and modify mechanical and electrical equipment within Public Utilities facilities.
- Work on equipment such as pumps, valves, regulators, actuators, control panels, communication systems, motor controls, electronic filtering and switching systems, production, monitoring, and injection wells.
- Maintain chemical feed pumps and chemical delivery systems, including piping and valving.
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and County safety requirements, including lock‑out/tag‑out and confined space entry, as well as general industry safety rules.
- Monday – Friday
- 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- * On‑call required
- High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- Three (3) years of experience in applicable trades, including work in the water/wastewater, industrial electrician, or industrial mechanic field.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License at the time of hire.
- Valid Florida Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain one within six (6) months from the date of hire (paid for by the County).
- Proficiency in operating a 1.5‑ton crane truck.
- Proficient with an electric multimeter, voltmeter, and megohmmeter.
- Experience with pump or motor repair, control panel repair, hydraulics, fluid mechanics, and welding.
- Certification(s) from trade school in pumps, valves, electrical, or fluid mechanics.
- Ability to dismantle and reinstall mechanical and electrical equipment and work with 440 volt electrical current.
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Substance ScreeningPosition is subject to passing a pre‑employment substance screening. An applicant who fails a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five (5) years.
Uniforms and Steel‑Toed BootsUniforms and steel‑toed boots are provided and paid for by the County.
Starting Pay$22.14 (Step
1). Potential higher pay for those with multiple years of experience.
