Irrigation Crew LeadPosition Summary
The Irrigation Crew Lead is responsible for overseeing and participating in the installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial irrigation systems. This position leads a crew in daily operations, ensures quality workmanship, maintains safety standards, and promotes efficiency and productivity on all job sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead irrigation crew members on daily job assignments
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair irrigation systems, including controllers, valves, sprinkler heads, drip systems, and pumps
- Read and interpret irrigation plans and blueprints
- Ensure proper system programming and water management practices
- Perform seasonal services such as system start-ups, winterizations, and inspections
- Train and mentor crew members on proper installation techniques and safety procedures
- Monitor job progress to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Maintain accurate job records, material usage, and daily reports
- Communicate effectively with management, clients, and team members
- Enforce company safety policies and ensure proper use of PPE
- Operate company vehicles, trailers, and equipment safely
Qualifications
- 3+ years of irrigation installation and repair experience
- Previous crew leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, components, and troubleshooting techniques
- Ability to read blueprints and irrigation layouts
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to operate trenchers, pipe pullers, and other equipment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and digging
- Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet conditions
- Ability to lift and carry irrigation materials and equipment
Work Schedule
- Full-time position
- Overtime and weekend work may be required during peak season
