About Our Job Do you have experience in industrial maintenance, electrical, and installation work? Join our team to repair, maintain, and install a variety of industrial electrical and mechanical equipment and systems across all Public Utilities water/wastewater facilities.
Job DescriptionInstall, replace, repair, and modify mechanical and electrical equipment located on and within Public Utilities facilities. Mechanical and Electrical equipment may be; pumps valves, regulators, actuators, control panels, communication systems, motor controls, electronic filtering and switching systems, injection wells, chemical feed pumps, and chemical delivery systems. Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and County safety requirements, lock-out/tag-out, confined space entry, and general industry safety rules.

Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m.
- 3:30 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications
- A High school diploma or its equivalent
- Six (6) years of experience in applicable trades which include work in the water/wastewater, industrial electrician, or mechanic field
- Class "A" CDL required within six (6) months from the date of hire (Paid for by Sarasota County!)
- A valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire
- Proficiency in the operation of a 1.5-ton crane truck
- Proficient in the operation of and electric multimeter, voltmeter, and megohmmeter
- Experience with pump or motor repair, control panel repair, hydraulics, fluid mechanics, and welding
- Certification(s) from trade school in pumps, valves, electrical or fluid mechanics
- Must have the skill to be able to dismantle and reinstall mechanical and electrical equipment and work with 440volt electrical current
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Subject to Passing Substance Screening:
This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five (5) years.

1) Potential higher pay (steps) for those with multiple years of experience.
- Class 1 License: + $1.50/ hour
- Class 2 License: + $1.00/ hour
- Class 3 License: + $0.50/ hour
