Position Overview
The Controller is responsible for oversight of the Company’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and cost accounting functions across multiple California-based locations and production facilities. The position ensures that financial systems, reporting, and analytical outputs effectively support operational and executive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Direct daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and appropriate documentation of financial transactions and workflows.
- Establish, maintain, and monitor cost accounting and standard costing methodologies across production operations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP; provide management with financial analysis and variance reporting.
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes; monitor performance against plan and report results to senior management.
- Oversee government, statutory, and regulatory reporting requirements to ensure full compliance.
- Strengthen financial controls, policies, and procedures to support scalability and operational discipline.
- Manage, develop, and evaluate accounting staff; promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with Information Technology to ensure financial and operational systems are stable, reliable, and aligned with business requirements.
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
- Demonstrated expertise in cost accounting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; CPA a plus.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and production/manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated experience with ERP/accounting systems and process optimization initiatives.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong writing skills.
- Strong analytical capability, sound judgment, and high attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with operational and executive leadership.
- Professional, proactive, and hands-on leadership style with a focus on rigor, and results.
- This is a full-time, on-site role, not remote/hybrid.
