Job Summary
A respected public sector organization in Ventura County is seeking a Senior Government Accountant for a temporary 3 to 7 month assignment supporting fiscal year‑end close and the annual audit process. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional with strong governmental accounting, GASB, fund accounting, and audit support experience to make an immediate impact during a critical reporting period.
Key Responsibilities- Review, prepare, and post complex journal entries in support of monthly and year‑end close.
- Perform and oversee general ledger reconciliations, account analysis, and correction of accounting discrepancies.
- Prepare audit schedules, supporting documentation, and Prepared by Client schedules for external auditors.
- Coordinate audit requests and partner with multiple departments to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Support fiscal year‑end close activities, monthly financial reporting, and annual audit preparation.
- Ensure accounting activities align with Governmental Accounting Standards Board requirements.
- Pay rate: $50 to $60 per hour.
- Temporary contract assignment, approximately 3 to 7 months.
- Full‑time schedule.
- 9/80 work schedule.
- Monday through Thursday with alternating Fridays off.
- Flexible start time between approximately 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM.
- Flexible 30 to 60 minute lunch period.
