Position Title:
Agricultural Intellectual Property Lead
Reports to:
International Relations Manager and General Manager, Brokaw Nursery
- Agreements (Non Propagation Agreements, Sublicenses, Commercial agreements):
- Review agreements and renew when necessary.
- Write new agreements when necessary.
- Update commercialization plans annually
- Keep an updated, online database on Filemaker Pro
- Keep records and report to growers/companies who have licensed us.
- Coordinate with Sales Manager to ensure necessary agreements are received and executed.
- Each January, collect annual planting and royalty reports from licensed growers and nurseries.
- Invoice for royalties and follow up on the payments.
- Send reports and payments to material owners.
- Coordinate efforts with International Relations Manager.
- Conduct quarterly online searches for newly filed Plant Breeders Rights worldwide and inform International Relations Manager.
- Update Intellectual Property reports to owners annually. Coordinate efforts with International Relations Manager.
- Coordinate the filing of new Plant Breeders Rights applications in a timely manner in coordination with plant material owners and lawyers.
- Contact lawyers when necessary and follow up on maintenance fees.
- Other duties as assigned
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Basic understanding of International Agriculture.
- Working knowledge of international regulatory compliance requirements.
- Strong organizational, analytical and people skills sufficient to provide timely and constructive feedback on issues related to the international business.
- Ability to structure and complete tasks independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Filemaker Pro
- Understand legal and technical documents and contracts.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Working understanding of business customs and practices in South and Central America.
- Build and maintain an atmosphere of collegiality.
- Demonstrate initiative.

- Remain open to learning and adaptation.
