The role:
Project Engineer within Civil West at PCL Construction, Inc. The engineer will support project delivery by managing subcontractor relationships, change orders, document control, and progress claims while coordinating with project managers and superintendents to maintain schedule, cost, and quality standards.
- Maintain contract with selected trade partners and oversee subcontract administration, including defining work scope, answering inquiries, and supervising progress.
- Participate in change management and change order processes, including pricing, processing, and assessing cost and schedule impact before reviews.
- Perform project document control and procedures (coordinate RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, and maintain as‑built drawings).
- Collaborate with the project team lead to supervise design and respond to submittal schedules promptly.
- Review trade partners’ submittals for scope and design compliance before forwarding to design for review.
- Coordinate with project manager and superintendent to manage and report overall project or select scope performance regarding site HSE, cost, schedule, and quality.
- Prepare and supervise progress claims and estimates.
- Coordinate inventory and tracking of materials and equipment, expediting material orders.
- Assist with site inspections from the design team to resolve constructability and site coordination issues; review and sign off on functionality, AHJ requirements, and code compliance, ensuring resolution is accepted by all partners.
- Participate in overall project closeout, including document archival, maintenance of warranty manuals, deficiency tracking, and warranty work.
- 1‑3 years of construction experience in an operational role preferred.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or equivalent experience.
- Verified understanding of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and specifications, project health, safety, and environment (HSE), quality, building materials, and required industry standards.
- Ability to apply basic engineering/problem‑solving principles to construction challenges.
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Planning, organizational, and time‑management skills with the ability to multi‑task, prioritize own work, and delegate simple tasks.
- Skill in building comprehensive schedules.
- Skill in coordinating subcontracts and contract documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internal operational systems with a strong ability to embrace new technology.

The estimated salary range for this role is $90,000 - $116,500 based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
