The Ventura Unified School District is hiring Substitute Child Development Teachers. Qualified applicants will be contacted when a need arises.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Transcripts reflecting at least 40 college semester units (24 units Early Childhood Education/Child Development including core courses and 16 general education units, as required by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing).
  • Six months experience working with children in a classroom or similar learning environment.
  • Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or a related field with 3 units supervised field experience in an ECE/CD setting is highly desirable.
Licenses And Other Requirements
  • A valid and current Child Development Teacher Permit issued by the State of California.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certifications issued by an authorized agency; employees must fulfill certification requirements within the first three (3) months of the probationary period.
  • Some incumbents may be required to speak, read and write in a designated second language.
Position

The Substitute Child Development Teacher position is on call, as needed, to fill in for employee absences, vacancies or limited-term assistance. Examinations and interviews are scheduled based on substitute demand. You will receive an email notification when we are ready to move forward with the next step in the recruitment.
