Description

This applicant pool will be used to fill part-time Speech Language Pathology Assistant Instructor vacancies at Ventura College for the Summer 2026, Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semester. If you have applied for previous pools in this discipline, you will need to apply to this pool to continue to be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds for the purpose of facilitating attainment of their academic or vocational objectives.
  • Instructors (Non-Contract/Temporary) may be employed up to 67% of a full-time assignment in accordance with Education Code sections 87482.5.
  • Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions of higher education, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills; refer students to support services, programs, resources, and other professionals as appropriate.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes; provide timely feedback to student inquiries in class, online, or during established office hours.
  • Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes; implement the student performance objectives as listed on the official course outline of record.
  • Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student progress, course curriculum, and student learning outcomes; prepare and submit data and reports in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate and select instructional materials in collaboration with discipline faculty; order instructional materials to ensure timely delivery.
  • Revise and update course content and materials in line with new theory, application, and industry developments; update syllabi and collaborate with discipline faculty to assess and revise measurable student performance indicators.
  • May participate in curriculum and program development; may provide input into the development of student learning outcomes; may attend and participate in committees and department, division, campus, and district meetings; may participate in articulation and matriculation activities; may provide work direction to others.

E = Essential duties

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook.

Master's in speech pathology, speech language pathology, speech language and hearing sciences, communicative disorders, communicative disorders and sciences, communication sciences and disorders or education with a concentration in speech pathology OR the equivalent; OR Possession of an appropriate California Community College Credential.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Applicant will possess or be eligible for California State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist
  • Experience with facilitating large groups of adult learners or teaching at the college level
  • Experience with learning management systems (Google Classroom, Canvas, Blackboard, D2L, etc.)
  • Experience with AAC
  • Eligible to supervise clinical students on site based on state board requirement
  • All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university.

    Equivalency

    The Ventura County Community College District recognizes that candidates may attain expertise through various means. If transcripts do not list the exact degree title as stated, candidates may complete and submit the Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency for review by the Equivalency Committee.
