Description

We are accepting applications on an ongoing basis for part‑time instructors in economics at any of our three colleges (Oxnard, Moorpark, and Ventura). Applications submitted to this pool will be kept on file for the Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027 semesters and may be considered if a vacancy becomes available within the academic year. If you have applied to previous pools in this discipline, you will need to apply to this pool to continue to be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds, facilitating attainment of academic or vocational objectives.
  • Deliver lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher‑order thinking through assignments and activities across one‑on‑one, classroom, and distance‑mediated settings.
  • Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions, lifelong learning resources, effective study skills; refer to support services and other professionals as appropriate.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance and learning outcomes via assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; provide timely feedback to inquiries in class, online, or during office hours.
  • Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes, maximizing student learning in alignment with department, college, and district goals.
  • Maintain current, accurate records of enrollment, attendance, academic progress, curriculum, and learning outcomes; prepare and submit related data and reports promptly.
  • Evaluate and select instructional materials in collaboration with discipline faculty, order materials per bookstore procedure.
  • Revise and update course content and materials in line with new theory, application, and industry developments.
  • Update syllabi; collaborate with faculty to assess and revise measurable student performance indicators.
  • May participate in curriculum and program development; provide input into student learning outcomes; attend and participate in committees, meetings, articulation and matriculation activities; provide work direction to others; perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook.

  • Master’s in economics OR Bachelor’s in economics AND Master’s in business, business administration, business management, business education, finance or political science OR the equivalent; OR possession of a valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline.
  • All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university.

Equivalency:
Certain combinations of education, experience and other accomplishments may be regarded as equivalent to the stated minimum qualifications.

Benefits
  • Part‑time faculty with classroom assignments are paid between $2,408 and $3,108 per semester per 10 % load.
  • Salary placement based on educational achievement and relevant experience; advancement based on longevity and educational growth.
  • Salary schedule governed by the collective bargaining agreement between the Ventura County Federation of College Teachers and the Ventura County Community College District.
