Instructor in History (Part‑Time Pool)

Position available at any of VCCCD’s three colleges (Oxnard, Moorpark, Ventura). Applications accepted continuously and considered for Summer 2026, Fall 2026, Spring 2027 semesters, or when a vacancy arises.
Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds.
- Advise and instruct students on programs of study, study skills, and applicable support services.
- Observe and evaluate student performance, provide timely feedback.
- Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and learning outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, academic progress, and submit required reports.
- Evaluate and select instructional materials; order them as needed.
- Revise and update course content and materials.
- Update syllabi and collaborate with faculty on measurable performance indicators.
- Participate in curriculum and program development, articulation and matriculation activities, committees, and meetings.
- Provide direction to others and perform related duties as assigned.
Master’s degree in history, or Bachelor’s in history and Master’s in political science, humanities, geography, area studies, women’s studies, social science or ethnic studies, or the equivalent; or possession of a valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline. All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university.
EquivalencyCandidates whose degree titles differ from the listed minimum qualifications may submit a supplemental questionnaire for equivalency review. The district may consider such qualifications if judged equivalent to the stated minimum requirements.
Salary and BenefitsPart‑time faculty are paid between $2,678 and $4,146 per semester for a 10% load. Salary placement is based on educational achievement and relevant experience, with further advancements based on longevity and educational growth. Compensation follows the collective bargaining agreement of the Ventura County Federation of College Teachers, AFT Local 1828.
