Instructor in Nursing (Part-Time Pool)
Salary: $2,408 to $3,108 per semester for a 10% load

- Provide academic instruction through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive, communication, and higher‑order thinking skills via assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations.
- Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other higher‑education institutions, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills; refer students to appropriate support services.
- Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and learning outcomes; provide timely feedback.
- Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes; implement student performance objectives listed on the official course outline of record.
- Maintain current and accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student progress, curriculum, and learning outcomes; prepare and submit relevant data and reports promptly.
- Evaluate and select instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools in collaboration with discipline faculty; order materials following campus bookstore procedures.
- Revise and update course content and instructional materials to reflect new theory and industry developments.
- Update syllabi; collaborate with discipline faculty to assess and revise measurable student performance indicators.
- May participate in curriculum and program development, committee work, articulation and matriculation activities, and provide work direction to others as assigned.
Educational requirements:
- Master’s in Nursing OR
- Bachelor’s in Nursing AND Master’s in Health Education or Health Science OR
- Equivalent qualification (*) OR
- Minimum qualifications set by the Board of Registered Nursing, whichever is higher; OR possession of a valid California Community College Teaching Credential appropriate to the discipline.
All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university.
Equivalency: Candidates may submit a supplemental questionnaire for equivalency if degree titles do not exactly match the stated minimum qualifications.
Minimum qualifications are those approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook.
