Description:

We are accepting applications on an on-going basis for consideration for part-time instructors for the Spring 2026 semester at Ventura College. Applicants who have previously applied to this discipline pool should re-apply to continue to be considered.

Under the general direction of a dean, an Instructor (Non-Contact/Temporary) provides comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds to facilitate attainment of their academic or vocational objectives. Instructors (Non-Contract/Temporary) may be employed up to 67% of a full-time assignment in accordance with Education Code sections 87482.5.

Ventura College, established in 1925, is one of the early community colleges in California. The college currently serves about 14,500 students. The campus is located about 60 miles north of Los Angeles and 30 miles south of Santa Barbara, on a 112-acre site with views of the Channel Islands. The Ventura County Community College District (VCCCD) is a public district serving residents throughout Ventura County. • Provide group and one-on-one instruction in assistive computer technology courses.
• Comply with district, college, and DSP&S policies and regulations for instructional settings.
• Provide academic instruction through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher-order thinking skills through assignments in various instructional settings.
• Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other higher education options, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills; refer students to support services as appropriate.
• Observe and evaluate student performance; provide timely feedback in class, online, or during office hours.
• Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes; align with department, college, and district goals.
• Maintain current records of enrollment, attendance, progress, curriculum, and learning outcomes; prepare and submit related data and reports timely.
• Evaluate and select instructional materials; order materials as needed to ensure timely delivery.
• Participate in curriculum and program development; update syllabi; collaborate with discipline faculty to assess and revise measurable student performance indicators.
• Revise course content to reflect new theory and industry developments within the discipline.
• Attend committees and meetings; may participate in articulation and matriculation activities.
• May provide work direction to others; perform related duties as assigned. E = Essential duties.
