At HDR, employees are valued and respected, and we seek a Senior Water/Wastewater Project Manager to lead complex water infrastructure projects.
ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise multidisciplinary teams of engineers and CAD professionals to develop detailed master plans, designs, specifications, and estimates for water and wastewater projects, including pipelines, reservoirs, and pump stations.
Establish project teams, schedules, and responsibility assignments; develop design criteria, schematics, and methods; perform or oversee sizing and hydraulic calculations and prepare preliminary design and engineering reports.
Write engineering specifications, oversee production of design drawings, develop and execute QA/QC plans, and work directly with owners to meet or exceed expectations.
Mentor less experienced Project Managers and Junior Engineers, train other engineering personnel, and supervise large project staffs.
Serve as a technical authority in water/wastewater infrastructure, regulations, processes, equipment, and operations; assist in marketing and managing major projects and clients.
Preferred Qualifications- Master’s degree
- PMP certification
- Existing relationships with large water clients in the Los Angeles area (Metropolitan Water District, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Orange County Water District) a plus.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical)
- California PE license with at least five years of responsible, in‑charge experience
- Project engineering and management experience in a consulting firm
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in the planning and design of municipal and/or industrial water/wastewater treatment systems
- Proven project leadership, staffing, scheduling, budget management, and mentoring skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Software knowledge:
Microsoft Office, Excel, Microsoft Project, basic AutoCAD experience - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Broad knowledge of water/wastewater design processes and technologies
- Strong business development and strategic planning skills
- Existing relationships with local and statewide municipal and private clients
- Excellent team player able to function effectively in integrated project teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 10 years of related experience
- Minimum of 5 years project management experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience a plus)
- Demonstrated leadership, business development, and strategic planning skills

The compensation range for this position is $133,000 – $190,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, education, and geographic location.
