Responsibilities- Creates accurate and detailed design drawings, diagrams, maps, and plans for utility distribution and telecommunication systems using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software for routine/simple designs with correct mapping symbols, callouts, decals, and proper tie‑downs.
- Assists with creating visualization deliverables including detailed plans, profiles, schematics, renderings, animations, and documentation to support design review and construction.
- Leverages specifics from geographic surveys, photogrammetry, and geospatial data into drawings and models.
- Completes load flow, short circuit, and power quality analyses to validate electrical system designs.
- Assists with work order costing, labor estimates, and supplemental form completion; updates online service requests.
- Checks planners’ redlines for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepares and revises design sketches for proposals and authorizations based on field information; evaluates electrical clearance requirements and ensures designs adhere to all applicable standards and regulations.
- Completes engineering functions and calculations in AUD (e.g., cable pulling, voltage drop, flicker).
- Supports design efforts on smaller scale projects such as residential or small commercial design.
- Ensures protection of the company’s physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets, and properly accesses and manages private customer data, proprietary information, confidential records, and other highly sensitive information with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
- One or more years of experience in CAD drafting or completion of a CAD certificate (or equivalent CAD coursework).
- AutoCAD Certification.
- Experience with electric utility design.
- This position’s work mode is hybrid; the employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on remaining days. Employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.
- The primary work location for this position is the Ventura Regional Office.
- This position has an option for a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule or 40 hrs/5 days a week.
- Relocation does not apply to this position.
