Maintenance & Calibration Technician

The Maintenance & Calibration Technician supports manufacturing equipment, facility systems, and calibration programs to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations. This hands-on role combines equipment maintenance, calibration activities, facility support, preventative maintenance, documentation, and general operational support. The position suits a mechanically inclined, detail-oriented professional who enjoys performing a wide range of tasks, from precise calibration and recordkeeping to basic facility repairs and general upkeep.

The role offers a clear growth path into an Engineering Technician position through exposure to manufacturing equipment, process improvement projects, troubleshooting activities, and regulated documentation practices.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment, laboratory equipment, tools, and facility systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Complete calibration activities on production and inspection equipment while maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Maintain calibration logs, maintenance records, forms, and supporting documentation with a high degree of accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor preventative maintenance and calibration schedules to ensure equipment remains compliant, operational, and inspection-ready.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform basic mechanical and electrical repairs when appropriate.
  • Coordinate with outside service providers for repairs, calibration services, and facility support when internal resources are not sufficient.
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and calibration-related materials to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Support equipment installation, setup, and relocation projects as needed.
  • Read, understand, and follow standard operating procedures, maintenance procedures, calibration procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and inspection-ready maintenance and calibration records and work areas.
  • Assist with facility upkeep, including changing light fixtures, replacing switches, performing basic plumbing repairs, painting, organizing work areas, waste removal, and other general building maintenance tasks.
  • Support cleaning and facility maintenance activities during staffing shortages, vacations, or special projects.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and professional manufacturing and engineering environment.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality personnel to support manufacturing operations and resolve equipment or facility-related issues.
  • Assist with process improvement projects and equipment upgrades as experience and training progress.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support business operations, including facility maintenance support and general building upkeep activities consistent with maintenance-focused roles.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on maintenance, mechanical, technical, manufacturing, facilities, or calibration experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools, hand tools, and equipment in a shop or lab environment.
  • Ability to accurately complete maintenance logs, calibration records, forms, and other documentation.
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and follow technical procedures, equipment manuals, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and data entry.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and follow through on assigned tasks.
  • Willingness to perform both technical tasks and general facility-related duties as needed.
  • Strong organizational skills and a team-first, collaborative attitude.
  • Experience using basic instrumentation, calibration tools, and hand tools for repair and maintenance activities.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in a medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other FDA-regulated environment.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs in a manufacturing or facilities setting.
  • Experience with calibration systems and metrology practices.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
  • Exposure to GMP, ISO, validation, or engineering documentation practices.
  • Interest in advancing into an Engineering Technician career path and developing escalating engineering technician skills.
  • Comfort working with electrical and mechanical systems in an engineering lab or production environment.
  • Ability to contribute to process improvement initiatives and equipment upgrades.
  • Motivation to grow within a smaller company environment with long-term opportunities.
Work Environment
